Meghan Markle reportedly discussed her connection with her father in a private discussion with Queen Elizabeth.
The complex relationship between Meghan Markle and her father Thomas Markle is said to have come up in a private conversation between Queen Elizabeth II and the Duchess. The New Royals by royal analyst Katie Nicholl claims that the Queen made an effort to persuade Markle to reconcile with her father and mend their strained relationship.
Nicholl states in the book, according to Page Six, “The Queen did speak to Meghan about it and attempted to push her to talk to Thomas,” since she could see how detrimental the situation was between Meghan and her father. The late queen apparently felt that “the whole issue was rather terribly handled with Thomas Markle and it it had been done differently, it would have come out better,” according to a royal insider who reportedly spoke to Nicholl.
Following the revelation of a scandal surrounding his manufactured paparazzi images, Thomas Markle decided not to attend the royal wedding. Markle later issued a statement regarding missing her wedding and stated, “My father will regrettably not be present at our wedding. I’ve always taken good care of my father, and I hope he can get the time he needs to concentrate on getting better.” Thomas would have heart surgery at the same time, it was reported. In the end, King Charles escorted his future daughter-in-law down the aisle.
After she accused him of disclosing a private letter she had written after the wedding, the Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with her father further soured. Since then, Thomas Markle hasn’t spoken to Prince Harry or Meghan, and he also hasn’t met his grandkids.
