According to Variety, his longtime manager Jarel Posey confirmed the news of his passing. Following a notification from the rapper’s manager regarding his passing, condolences to the artist began to flood in.
“We are saddened by the loss of our dear friend and client, Coolio, who passed away this afternoon. He touched the world with the gift of his talent and will be profoundly missed. Thank you to everyone worldwide who has listened to his music and to everyone who has been reaching out regarding his passing. Please have Coolio’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers,” the statement released by the late rapper’s manager read, according to Variety.
Coolio rose to prominence as one of the most well-known rappers of the 1990s because to the success of his song Gangsta’s Paradise, which was used in the Michelle Pfeiffer-starring 1995 movie Dangerous Minds. At the Grammy Awards, the song was nominated for record of the year and best rap solo performance, winning in both.
